Greater Manchester Fire And Rescue Service were called at 10.11am to a fire on Wilmslow Road in Withington. Upon arrival two people had self-rescued. They had four fire engines from Gorton, Hyde, Moss Side and Withington, alongside the hydraulic platform from Whitehill and command support unit from Hyde, at the scene. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to tackle the fire. The blaze was quickly brought under control and firefighters remained at the scene dampening down for a couple of hours.
